Lamba, BJP leader Teena Sharma meet Yogendra Yadav, evinces interest in joining Kejriwal's party
New Delhi: Former NSUI President and Congress leader Alka Lamba and Delhi BJP leader Teena Sharma have quit their respective parties expressing unhappiness with their role and are set to join Aam Aadmi Party(AAP).
Both Lamba and Sharma met Yogendra Yadav and other AAP leaders and evinced interest in joining the Arvind Kejriwal-headed party which is poised to form the government with Congress support in Delhi on Saturday.
Lamba said that though she had been in the Congress for the past 20 years and was given responsibility in various departments, somewhere, something was missing.
She expressed a desire to join AAP as a worker and fight corruption. "I will be happy in bringing change in Delhi," she said.
Lamba claimed she had sought meetings with Congress President Sonia Gandhi and Rahul Gandhi several times for discussions on challenges before the party in Delhi but unfortunately it did not materialise.
"Alka Lamba and a few members of other parties, including BJP, came to meet the party leaders. It was made clear to them that anyone is welcome in the party as a volunteer," AAP leader Yogendra Yadav said.
Sharma said she had communicated her desire to join the AAP before the Delhi Assembly elections.
