For those who are spending the Christmas and New Year vacation with family and friends here, it could be an ideal time to shop, enjoy different cuisines, and take part in cultural events.
Coimbatore District Small Industries Association (Codissia) is organising Coimbatore Shopping Festival from December 27 to January 5.
The Hindu is a media partner for the event.
The event at the Codissia Trade Fair Complex will have over 350 stalls, food court, cultural programmes and games for children.
Shopping festival chairman A.V. Varadarajan and Codissia president R. Ramachandran told presspersons here on Friday that over two lakh visitors are expected during the 10 days.
The exhibition would be open from 11am to 8.30pm. Home appliances, consumer durables, electronic gadgets, textiles, furniture, automobiles, ornamental plants, jewellery and toys for children would be on sale, they added.
The festival focuses on traders and dealers in Coimbatore and other cities. The entry fee will be Rs. 25 for each visitor.
Codissia organises six events a year for different industrial segment. This is for consumers and traders. It will be an annual programme and will be on the lines of Singapore and Dubai shopping festivals.
Consumers can benefit from special offers, get to know more about new products, and buy different products under one roof. The total exhibition area is one lakh sq.ft.
There will be a special programme on December 31 for New Year celebrations.
