COIMBATORE: The twin brothers from Amrita School of Engineering accused of drugging and raping a 19 year girl from Amrita School of Mass Communication was brought to Coimbatore Medical College Hospital for conducting potency and blood test as part of the ongoing probe in the rape case. Akhil Suryakiron and Athul Suryakiron allegedly trapped, drugged and raped the survivor at a private apartment near KK Pudur here in the city on February 23. The accused duo and the survivor were studying in the same campus of Amrita University in Ettimadai here in the outskirts of the city and were also staying at the university hostel.
"We brought the accused to collect their blood samples and also carry out potency test as part of the investigation," said G Amutha, Inspector, Thudiyalur All Women Police Station.
The police have already sent the mobile phones, laptops and hard discs seized from the hostel room and the apartment owned by the family members of the accused for forensic and data recovery procedure. Police personnel had raided the hostel room of the accused in Amrita campus during the weekend and recovered these articles. Both brothers hailing from Kozhikode in Kerala were brought to Coimbatore Medical College Hospital with police escort for the medical tests at around 12 noon on Tuesday.
The university had issued suspension orders to both accused on Monday. Both accused are presently being lodged at Borstal School in Pollachi, a facility for lodging delinquent youths
