In Spain, a dog breeder was astounded when his hound breed gave birth to 5 puppies on 3rd June, two of which (a male and a female) had bright green fur. He tried to wipe it, thinking it to be dirt, but it wouldn’t wash off.
The two green puppies were smaller and weaker than their siblings, and since this story was reported, the female died.
The male continues to be weaker than his siblings, but is fighting to survive. The Mirror also reported that it is beginning to lose it’s green colouration.
The local vets are trying to investigate this phenomena.
Strangely, however, this is not the first time green puppies were reported:
According to a Mail Today report in 2012, a Golden Labrador pup was born with a bright green glow. The report revealed:
Concerned, Ms Grimes and Mr Murray did a quick internet search and discovered that young Hulk had a rare condition that occurs when the pup’s mother - in this case Buttons - is exposed during pregnancy to a substance called biliverdin, which can be found in the placenta.
This has the bizarre effect of dying the puppy’s coat green - and it almost always happens to very light-coloured puppies.
